'Resident Evil 3' remake hits PS4, Xbox One and PC on April 3rd
Following its acclaimed remake of Resident Evil 2, Capcom is going back to Raccoon City to rework the next entry in the survival horror series. The Resident Evil 3 reboot was confirmed during Sony's State of Play stream Tuesday, along with an April 3rd release date for PS4, Xbox One and PC.
'Death Stranding' and 'Control' lead Game Awards nominees
The Game Awards takes place in less than a month and voting is now open after Geoff Keighley announced the nominees. Hideo Kojima's sprawling epic Death Stranding leads the pack with nine nominations, including game of the year, game direction, score/music, narrative and performance for both Norman Reedus and Mads Mikkelsen.
'Spider-Man' and 'God of War' highlight Sony's E3 PS4 sale
Sony might not officially have a physical presence at E3 this year, but that isn't stopping it from holding its PlayStation Days of Play sale. Not only is there a limited edition, 1TB PS4 in steel black ($300) and a discount on the jet black PS4 Pro ($350), but you can get $20 off a PS Plus 12-Month membership and $30 off an annual PS Now subscription.
Xbox One X is $100 off during Microsoft's E3 sale
It's one of the most wonderful times of the year for gamers as E3 is upon us. Not only will the next week or so bring more game announcements than you can shake a stick at, but you can expect sales galore from many of the big hitters. Microsoft, for one, has stepped up to the plate with an array of deals, including a hefty discount on Xbox One X.
'PUBG Mobile' is getting a 'Resident Evil 2' crossover
PUBG Mobile is gearing up for another high-profile crossover just months after its Mission Impossible: Fallout event. This time it's trading in the secret agent thrills for bucketloads of gore courtesy of a Resident Evil 2 mash-up. The news was teased by the Japanese Resident Evil Twitter account with a found footage-style CCTV feed that flits between a zombie attack and images of abandoned streets -- all par for the course for the iconic series.
'Resident Evil 2' remake's Story trailer features familiar faces
We got our hands on Capcom's Resident Evil 2 remake earlier this year at E3 2018, but now it's showing off a "Story" trailer and some familiar characters at the Tokyo Game Show. It's our most extensive look at gameplay since the remake was announced three years ago, with peeks at zombie dogs, mysterious woman of action Ada Wong and many others. Of course Claire and Leon are the stars, but, as Capcom explains in a blog post, the old "zapping" story method where one playthrough could have effects on your next one is no longer present in this edition, with each instead having a separate campaign for you to play through. Resident Evil 2 will be reborn for PS4, Xbox One and PC on January 25th, 2019.
Capcom made a ridiculous typewriter keyboard for 'Resident Evil 2'
Over the years, Capcom has had some wild ideas for physical Resident Evil tie-ins. A Bluetooth keyboard modeled after Resident Evil 2's iconic Lexington typewriter might take the cake for the coolest one, though. Unlike the dollhouse that was part of the Resident Evil 7 special edition or the chainsaw controller from Resident Evil 4, folks who are really into keyboards (or typewriters) might actually get some use out of this.
'Resident Evil 2' is the classic you remember but with a good camera
Wow, those intestines are really pretty. I never expected that particular phrase to pass through my mind, but it definitely did during my playthrough of the new Resident Evil 2 remake -- and more than once. Twenty years after its launch on the original PlayStation, RE2 has been essentially rebuilt from the ground up for modern platforms and it's nearly unrecognizable, at least from a visual standpoint. Gameplay-wise, however, it feels just like RE2.
Sony’s E3 2018 show: Our verdict
Last month, Sony poured cold water on the idea that its E3 press conference would be a big, blockbuster show. Instead, Sony said that we could expect more intimate, deeper-dives on games like Death Stranding, Ghosts of Tsushima, The Last of Us: Part II and Spider-Man. Sony was aiming for something close to a Revival Meeting vibe, hosting its event in a church hall with ribbons of bulbs running along the ceiling and pews for the attendees.
'Resident Evil 2' remake is coming January 25th, 2019
It's been 16 years since Capcom remade the first Resident Evil for Gamecube, but any plans to redo its lauded sequel fell by the wayside. But after last year's Resident Evil VII blew away fans and sales records, the time has come for a glorious return to Raccoon City. On Sony's E3 stage, Capcom revealed the remake for Resident Evil 2 is coming out on January 25th, 2019 for PS4, Xbox One and PC.
Capcom finally greenlights a 'Resident Evil 2' remake
It's official and it feels oh-so good: Capcom is working on a remake of 1998's survival-horror masterpiece Resident Evil 2. This one has been a long time coming for many fans, as Resident Evil 2 is widely considered to be one of the best games in the series -- and one of the best survival-horror video games, period. Producer Yoshiaki "H" Hirabyashi announced the remake in a video, noting, "We at R&D Division 1 will do our best to take on your feedback and deliver the gameplay experience you've been waiting for."
Our most wanted PSone games
We have faith that one day, the PlayStation Store will be accessible via PSP without the need for a PS3, and will flourish into a glorious realm of classic games, one that will be untouched by the competition. Of course, homebrew users will rip their own games ... but for the rest of us, this is my personal wishlist of PSone games that I'd like to see available for download.
