Thanks to an early jump in Japan, we already knew that Canon's VIXIA line was getting a refresh, but now we can rest easy knowing they'll be coming to America. The HF11 Dual Flash camcorder (32GB in addition to an SDHC slot) and HG20 (60GB) / HG21 (120GB) HDD camcorders all boast 1,920 x 1,080 capture modes, Instant AutoFocus, SuperRange Optical Image Stabilization and 24Mbps recording to the AVCHD format. The whole lot is expected to ship next month for $1,199, $949 and $1,299 in order of mention, and the increasingly intriguing HF11 has already spent some quality time on Camcorder Info's review bench. No sooner did we have a chance to wrap our mitts around JVC's Everio GZ-HD40 and Samsung's SC-HMX20C than Canon comes out with a pair of its own. Kicking things off is the iVIS HF11 (which turned up in name back in April) -- an HD camcorder with 32GB of built-in memory, an SD / SDHC card slot, Full HD recording capabilities (using the polarizing AVCHD format) and a 12x optical zoom. The iVIS HG21 (pictured after the break) relates most closely to the aforementioned HD40, as it packs a capacious 120GB internal HDD, 2.7-inch flip-out LCD and most of the same specifications as its sibling. Expect 'em both to land next month (at least in Japan) for ¥140,000 ($1,317) apiece.

Believe it or not, HF11 actually wasn't one of the many units Canon introduced at CES, but curiously enough, that moniker is showing up on the outfit's own website. When taking a peek at the Drivers & Downloads section for the DC320 DVD camcorder, you'll find a link for a PDF brochure of the VIXIA family that supposedly includes the HF11. Upon opening said file, however, you'll discover nary a mention of the mysterious item. A new model waiting just around the bend? A simple typo? A devilish trick played by the suits at Canon? The world may never know.

Ready to get up close and personal with Canon's VIXIA HF10 camcorder? Think about it, 16GB of on-board flash with SDHC expansion, Canon's 12x lens with optical image stabilization, and 1,920 x 1,080 recordings in AVCHD format. Right, huh? We knew they were coming, now Canon's VIXIA family of HD camcorders is official. All the new VIXIA cams feature a Genuine Canon HD Video Lens, HD CMOS image sensor for Full HD 1920 x 1080 image capture, DIGIC DV II Impage Processor, Instant AutoFocus, and SuperRange Optical Image Stabilization. The HF10 (pictured above) main claim to fame is Dual Flash Memory -- it records to both 16GB of internal flash and removables SDHC cards. It features a 12x HD Video Lens, 3.3 Megapixel Full HD CMOS Image Sensor, 2.7-inch LCD, microphone terminal, 24p Cinema Mode, and 30p Progressive Mode once limited to pro-level camcorders for fast action events sporting events and the like. The HF100 model is pretty much the HF10 without the on-board flash. The HF10 dual flash and HF100 flash models should rollout in April for $1,099 and $899, respectively. A $999 HV30 model brings all the VIXIA goodness to MiniDV cassettes.

Well looky here. Canon's got some gear for this CES, including the release of a number of new wholly solid state camcorders, dubbed "dual flash" in reference to internal flash memory and SDHC. Stay tuned for specs and release details on the Vixia HF10, F510, and F511.
