Joel Goodsen would blush seeing the sorts of shenanigans some of these these corporations have been getting into. And occasionally even succeeding at. Netflix goosed its viewing criteria to give a coin to its Witcher, Microsoft had another privacy whoopsie, and Germany just straight up forgot to upgrade its OS and is now paying the price. Here are five of the week's top business headlines.

Netflix's take on The Witcher is a success by many metrics, although you wouldn't know it by looking at digital music services -- not unless you count the unofficial covers of a certain Jaskier song. Thankfully, Netflix is restoring some order to the universe. It's releasing the first volume of The Witcher's soundtrack on download and streaming services on January 24th. And yes, "Toss a Coin to Your Witcher" will take a prominent position. It's already available on the likes of Spotify and Apple Music as we write this.

Netflix clearly knows its adaptation of The Witcher is a hot property (shifting metrics aside), and it's determined to milk that success for all it's worth. The service has confirmed rumors that it's working on an anime movie offshoot, The Witcher: Nightmare of the Wolf. It's not saying much about the plot besides talk of a "new threat facing the Continent," but fans may like the talent attached to the project. The Witcher series' Beau DeMayo and Lauren Hissrich are involved, and Legend of Korra's Studio Mir is producing the title.

You'd think that a single player game over four years old would be long past its prime, but don't tell that to CD Projekt Red. The studio's community lead Marcin Momot has revealed that the PC version of The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt broke its record for the most number of concurrent players, with nearly 94,000 people playing on December 29th. Polygon noted that the number has climbed higher since, and that the game was eighth in Steam's top ten games by player count (a position that holds true as we write this). For context, Witcher 3 set its previous record all the way back at launch in May 2015, when 92,268 people fired up the action role-playing title.

You're about to have one less option for card games on your console. CD Projekt Red has warned that it's shutting down Gwent on PS4 and Xbox One to focus on the PC and mobile versions. Between the recent release of the Witcher-themed title on iOS and its upcoming Android edition, there would be too many versions to support while still "improving feature parity between them," the studio said. You'll have a while to keep playing, but you'll start to notice the shutdown process very quickly.

Late last year we learned that The Witcher's TV adaptation found its Geralt in the form of Superman star Henry Cavill, and now at Comic-Con fans have their first glimpse of the live-action series coming to Netflix. The teaser trailer was unveiled at a panel discussion, where Variety reports Cavill said he campaigned "passionately" for the role and that he's a big gamer who also did all of his own stunts. There's no release date on the trailer itself, but at least we have an idea of the monsters Geralt will be facing -- both human and otherwise. Attendees got a look at some footage that isn't in this clip, including the game's notorious bathtub, among other things.
