Square Enix's press conference didn't exactly wow us the way others have this E3, but that doesn't mean there wasn't any news. Or, that you don't want to watch the show anyway. It's just that we saw most of it during Microsoft's keynote yesterday. Which is why we've distilled the show down to an easy six minutes. You're welcome!

Be 'Star Fox' in the Switch version of Ubisoft's 'Starlink'

Ubisoft debuted Starlink debuted at least year's E3 as a next generation toys-to-life game -- a Skylanders in space, if you will, and heir to Disney Infinity. The modular spacecraft models looked pretty cool when we got our hands on them, but today we saw a full-fledged trailer of the game (full title Starlink: Battle for Atlas), which looks like Destiny toned down for the Saturday morning cartoon demographic. But there's another gamer group that might want to rush out and play: Ubisoft revealed that Star Fox's Fox McCloud will come exclusively to the Switch version of the game, and yes, you can buy a cool Arwing toy to go with it.

Ubisoft's E3 press conference kicked off with a marching band, crazy costumes and a dancing panda and yet somehow that wasn't even the most bizarre thing about the company's announcement of Just Dance 2019. While the latest installment of the motion-capture dancing series will be released on all the usual suspects -- PS4, Xbox One and Switch -- Ubisoft's also giving fans of older systems something new to play on the Xbox 360, Wii U and yes, even the Wii.

'The Division 2' will have the raids 'Destiny 2' doesn't

One of the biggest criticisms levied against Destiny 2 right now is its lack of raids. Ubisoft knows this, which is why it proudly announced today that The Division 2 will have eight-player raids next year. What's more, all the game's year one expansions, which will be broken down into three separate chapters, won't cost players a cent. Destiny and The Division, of course, are two separate franchises with different worlds and gameplay loops. But they're both competing in the same lucrative and highly competitive 'games as a service' market. Ubisoft, clearly, is hoping to pull some disillusioned players away from Bungie's sci-fi shooter in 2019.

Rainbow Six: Siege has come a long, long way from the early days when it was a risky break from the series' familiar formula. Ubisoft has revealed that the team-based tactical shooter now has over 35 million players. It's not certain how many of those are active on a regular basis, but there's a lot of content for them to play -- Ubi noted that there has been 10 seasons' worth so far.

From the moment a jazzy panda leading a marching band opened up Ubisoft's E3 stage, it was clear this would be a much livelier presentation than we've seen over the last few days. But after the gorgeous new trailer for Beyond Good and Evil 2 rolled, nobody was expecting the studio's leads to introduce...Joseph Gordon-Levitt. Ubisoft is partnering with his online creative community HitRecord to crowdsource a bunch of fan-made content that may end up in the game -- and you can jump on the collaboration's website to start creating now.

  • Square Enix’s E3 showcase was a bust

Well, that was a disappointment. Square Enix held its E3 showcase earlier today and it was, to put it mildly, underwhelming. If you were hoping for more information about Final Fantasy VII Remake, or the mysterious Avengers Project, sorry -- neither made the cut this year. A number of smaller releases were absent too, including Dragon Quest Builders 2, The World Ends With You: Final Remix, and Left Alive, a new apocalyptic shooter directed by Armored Core producer Toshifumi Nabeshima.

Tunic looks like a game that's taken a lot of inspiration from SNES era Zelda titles — and when Xbox's E3 2018 showcase is an awful lot of games with guns, zombies or unexplained apocalyptic surroundings, it was a welcome panacea. Meet the tiny fox embarking on an adorable, mysterious adventure.

In between all the fantasy worlds in today's Square Enix presentation we also got a look at a decidedly realistic New York and some sweet fighting action thanks to what looks to be an entirely new franchise from the company: The Quiet Man. And no, it doesn't seem to be related to the classic 1952 film.

If I asked you to imagine a gaming laptop, flashy designs, colorful lights and beefy chasses probably come to mind. Lenovo wants to move away from that motif and appeal to more users by redesigning its Legion series of gaming systems. For E3 this year, the company is introducing the new Y530, Y730 (in two sizes) and Y7000 laptops, which feature a subtler aesthetic, among other updates. It's also adding four new desktops to its lineup -- the T530 and T730 towers and the cubic C530 and C730.

Microsoft didn't have much success with the original Xbox in Japan, but it did manage to create a few games by local developers that were coveted by fans of the platform. The mech game Metal Wolf Chaos made by From Software (Dark Souls) was one of those, and even though it never saw a US release beyond a hidden demo on the Official Xbox Magazine disc, people have been looking out for it ever since. Tonight at E3 Devolver Digital announced that a remastered version, Metal Wolf Chaos XD will be released for Xbox One, PS4 and PC this year. This game will feature upgraded 4K and widescreen-ready graphics, tweaked controls and a new save system. Get ready to play as the President of the United States piloting a mech fighting against a revolution started by your own vice president. Yes, that's the plot of the game.

Have you ever wanted to play an Elder Scrolls game on your phone, for free? Bethesda thinks you have and has you covered with Elder Scrolls: Blades, what the company's Todd Howard described as "a pure Elder Scrolls game." It'll run on every platform imaginable, Howard said, and all the versions will connect to one another, so, for instance, someone on an iPhone X can play against someone who's running through it on a PC-based VR system or standard console. It'll be out this fall. You use finger-swipes for melee attacks and casting spells against various beasts (and other players) in procedurally generated dungeons, and beautiful forests.
