Virgin Galactic has revealed the spacesuits that its test pilots will wear on the first rocket-powered test flight from its new Spaceport America facility in New Mexico.

Under Armour may be rethinking its fitness app strategy. After purchasing MyFitnessPal for $475 million in 2015, the company announced today that it has started a “definitive agreement to sell the MyFitnessPal platform to Francisco Partners.” It’s also discontinuing the Endomondo personal trainer app it bought at the same time as MyFitnessPal for $85 million.

Some Under Armour fitness devices lose their smarts on March 31st (updated)
People who bought some of Under Armour's fitness devices are learning a hard lesson about the fragility of connected tech. Ars Technica has learned that the athletic wear company is winding down support for its scale, wristband and heart monitor by not only pulling the cornerstone Record mobile app (done on New Year's Eve), but halting all bug fixes and customer support. The app will stop working entirely on March 31st, preventing the gadgets from syncing their data outside of a handful of circumstances. Needless to say, that's a big problem if you dropped significant money on even one of UA's 2016-era devices, let alone $400 for the HealthBox bundle that included the three gadgets in one kit.
The best fitness gadgets for the athlete on your list
Pro tip: Don't buy the athlete on your list socks. (Unless they have specific tastes and love odor-resistant wool.) Instead, consider the gadgets they may or may not have in their arsenal. For some, that means a fitness-oriented smartwatch or, perhaps, a single-purpose wearable designed to go deep on a single sport. You might also consider wireless headphones that won't fall out or malfunction in the face of sweat or raindrops. Or a Nintendo Switch game for your favorite sedentary athlete who has trouble finding motivation otherwise. Our list includes some oddball entries too, including a doo-dad that straps your phone to your sports bra while working out, and a vibrating muscle massager that pro athletes swear by. Heck, we'd even make a case for smart shoes. Not all of them, by any means, but we found a pair even us skeptics can get behind. Have a look. And seriously, don't go with socks.

Yesterday, NASA revealed the spacesuits its astronauts will wear on future Moon and Mars missions. They're impressive but clunky and a little heavy-handed on the patriotic theme. As you might expect, commercial space travel will be a bit more stylish. Today, Under Armour unveiled the space gear -- a base layer, spacesuit and boots -- that it's designed for passengers on Virgin Galactic flights.

As you've come to expect from most smartwatches, the UA Watch Active 2 features a heart-rate monitor and can show you stats like calories burned and distance covered. That said, where Samsung and Under Armour really want to make it shine is with its fitness coaching and training plans, which are customized for you using data from the watch during your runs. It can tell you how to improve your form in real time, for instance.
The Rock and Under Armour cook up true wireless earbuds
The tag team partners of Dwanye Johnson and Under Armour have teamed up again for a new product in their collaborative line. the activewear company announced today the Project Rock True Wireless In-Ear Headphones. The fitness-focused earbuds are designed to be sweat proof and to stay in the wearer's ear even in the most intense workouts. Under Armour claims the headphones get about 5 hours of continuous playback on a full charge. they also come with a charging case that can add up to 20 hours of listening. The wireless earbuds retail for $199 and will start shipping on June 7th.

MapMyFitness for iPhone lets you see all your activity in one place
The best thing about iOS 8 isn't continuity texting or a liberated keyboard -- it's that it'll give you rock hard abs. Which is exactly what you need if you're going to pull off any of Under Armour's skin-tight clothing. The sports brand wants to help you along with that, and has just updated its suite of apps (the popular MapMy... franchise it bought) to include unified activity tracking. This means if you have compatible hardware (like Jawbone's UP, or a Withings Pulse) or an iPhone with an M7/M8 chip in it, you can fold all your activity data into the one MapMyFitness app. This also means you won't get dupes any more if you were already tracking with the app and a tracker separately. Already working on those biceps by lifting your fancy new iPhone 6 Plus? Good, because the apps have also been given a digital nip and tuck to look extra buff on the new larger displays.
Samsung may turn to Under Armour to rival Apple's relationship with Nike
In a bid to expand wearable sales, Samsung is reportedly entertaining the idea of teaming up with US sports apparel maker Under Armour. According to Yonhap News, Lee Jae Yong, the son of chairman Lee Kun Hee and heir apparent of Samsung Electronics, met with Under Armour CEO Kelvin Plank earlier this month, reportedly to discuss ways to counter the burgeoning collaboration between Apple and Nike.
Under Armour acquires MapMyFitness to bolster digital fitness
Watch out, Nike -- in the footrace for domination of the huge and growing digital fitness market, a competitor just leapt into contention. Under Armour, a major manufacturer of fitness and sports performance products, acquired MapMyFitness -- a company with one of the largest digital fitness communities. MapMyFitness current has over 20 million registered users, many of whom use the company's popular Map My Run, Map My Walk or Map My Fitness Workout Trainer iOS apps and a large selection of connected activity trackers and wearable sensors. In fact, the company says that its apps integrate with more than 400 fitness tracking devices. For the time being, the apps will continue under the MapMyFitness brand and the company will operate from its Austin, Texas, headquarters.
