If you're an iPhone fan who wants a dual camera and OLED display but would rather not spend a grand or more on an iPhone XS, you're in luck -- at least, for now. Apple has started selling refurbished iPhone X units for the first time, starting at $769 (£769) for 64GB of storage and $899 (£899) for its 256GB counterpart. We wouldn't count on stock lasting forever, but the X stands a better chance of sticking around than clearance iPhone SE models did in January.

Samsung continues to deal with the fallout from its exploding Note 7 devices. The company has been sued for the problem, and has issued short-term fixes, apologies and a hurried recall to try and contain the damage to its brand. Apparently it's working, as the Galaxy S8 has gotten a record number of pre-orders despite the issues of its predecessor. Now Samsung is looking to sweeten Note 7 lovers up with the Galaxy Note 7 "Fandom Edition." According to the Wall Street Journal, this FE model will be a refurbished Note 7 with upgraded components.

Last month, a report claiming that Samsung would refurbish and sell the many Galaxy Note 7 smartphones that were returned following a global recall. In case you forgot, the Galaxy Note 7 had a battery problem that was causing the device to overheat and catch on fire. Now that Samsung finished its investigation into the root cause of the problem, the company is detailing how it plans to deal with the millions of returned phones. Refurbishment and resale is at the top of that list: Samsung says it'll consider if devices are in suitable condition to be sold or used as rental devices.

Even though Samsung has established a cause for those Galaxy Note 7 flare-ups, the device's story is not over. Korean outlet Hankyung reports that the company will sell the "refurbished" phones, but with smaller, less-explodey batteries inside. It doesn't sound like the devices will be returning to US or European markets (it's tough to imagine regulators reversing course on bans after the first recall and reissue), but they could be sold in India or Vietnam instead.

You no longer have to wait for a sale to snag an Apple Watch at a more reasonable price. Apple has quietly started selling refurbished Series 1 and Series 2 models through its American online store, lowering the barrier of entry if you don't insist on untouched wristwear. They're currently the most common models, to no one's surprise (no ceramic Apple Watch Edition here), but you're getting a sizable 15 percent discount over brand new: Series 1 begins at $229, while the GPS-equipped Series 2 variants start at $309. The Series 2 lineup also includes a few stainless steel versions starting at $469.

Apple has started selling refurbished iPhones in its US online store, with hefty discounts depending on what you want to buy. An unlocked 16GB iPhone 6s is selling for $449, or $80 off the usual price; splurge on a 64GB iPhone 6s Plus and you'll shell out $589, or $110 less than usual. The iPhone SE and iPhone 7 are absent, but that's not surprising given that owners have only had them for several months at best.

Nintendo has a deal for those that don't have spare Wii Remote Plus and Nunchuk controllers left over from the last console generation. The console manufacturer's online store now includes refurbished versions of the peripheral pack for $20, a savings of $10 on the normal price of the accessories. Nintendo is offering the controllers in three colors: white, black and blue. Nintendo launched the Wii Remote Plus in November 2010, combining the gyroscope tech from its Wii Motion Plus add-on with the Wii's standard Wii Remote controller. Nintendo's refurbished goods may include "minor cosmetic blemishes," but are guaranteed to be fully functional and include Nintendo's standard 90-day warranty. Given that games like Wii Sports Club and Super Mario 3D World can use the controllers, the refurbished set may prove to be a good investment for Wii U owners.

Nintendo has temporarily dropped the price of many of its portable consoles at its online store, and is now offering select Nintendo 3DS systems for as low as $109.99. The classic Aqua Blue and equally handsome Midnight Purple Nintendo 3DS systems are now available via Nintendo for $109.99, while last generation's Midnight Blue DSi XL will run you $99.99. All refurbished systems have been inspected and repaired by Nintendo, and are guaranteed to be in working order. Nintendo began offering refurbished portables for sale earlier this year, and has since expanded its catalog to include 3DS XL systems and SD cards. Perhaps you could put the money you save through buying a refurbished system toward that new Pokemon game that all the kids are talking about?

If you've been waiting for a price drop before upgrading to a 3DS XL, Nintendo has the next best thing for you: a refurbished trio of its up-sized 3D handhelds. They typically run $200 new, but you can get a redone unit for $170, or $180 with a 16GB SD memory card, in red, black or blue direct from the manufacturer. If you don't mind dropping the XL, a reworked aqua blue or midnight purple 3DS has lowered from April's price of $130 to $120, or $50 off compared to new. In all cases, Nintendo refurbs come with a one-year warranty and -- aside from the possibility of some "minor cosmetic blemishes" -- the Japanese manufacturer assures us that its quality standards are "VERY high".
