Honda will discontinue its Clarity EV in 2020
Honda is discounting the pure-electric version of its lease-only Clarity, Autoblog reports. It appears that Honda will continue to produce the plug-in hybrid and hydrogen fuel cell Clarity models, at least in 2020.
Valve's Steam Controller is dead
Four years after Valve released its oddball Steam Controller, it's not making any more. The controller is on sale today for $5 -- that's 90 percent off its list price of $49.99 -- and a note in the Steam Store warns that there's a limited quantity remaining. Once those controllers are gone, Valve doesn't plan to make more, The Verge reports.

Intel discontinues its processors with AMD graphics
If you suspected Intel processors with AMD graphics weren't long for this world, you guessed correctly. Intel has discontinued its Core i7 processors based on Kaby Lake-G, explaining to chip buyers that market interest has "shifted to other Intel products." Vendors have until January 31st, 2020 to place orders, and the last shipments should take place by July 31st, 2020. There's no sign of a replacement on the horizon, either.
Bose discontinues its Sleepbuds due to battery issues
Bose is discontinuing the Sleepbuds it designed to mask noise and help people get a better night's rest. In an email to customers, it cites various battery issues as the reason. While Bose is honoring the warranty on the $249 wearables, it's allowing everyone who bought Sleepbuds to return them by the end of the year for a full refund.
Adobe will kill Shockwave on April 9th
Adobe isn't just putting Flash on ice. In the wake of customer emails, the software giant has signaled that it will discontinue Shockwave for Windows on April 9th, 2019. The company had already phased out its Director authoring tool and the Mac player in 2017, but this represents the web plugin's final bow for most people. The only people receiving support beyond that will be enterprise customers, whose contracts run out in 2022.

The move marks the last step of a long, gradual phase-out that included a halt on first-party games in 2015, the discontinuation of physical games and the end to PS Plus freebies. Airbus ends production of its A380 superjumbo
Airbus will soon end production of the A380 superjumbo, the largest passenger plane to ever fly. It's capable of hauling up to 850 people and flyers love it, especially those who can afford the amazing first class seats and private cabins. However, airlines were less enthralled, and orders have been tapering off for years. The final straw came when the A380's best cutomer, Emirates, cut an order for the planes, forcing Airbus to admit in a statement that there was "no basis to sustain production."
The Essential Phone is effectively discontinued
An already rough year for smartphone startup Essential appears to be ending on a sour note. Droid Life spotted that the company's flagship Essential Phone, also known as the PH-1, is out of stock and won't be coming back. The company has confirmed the handset won't be restocked, effectively discontinuing the device. Essential says it will instead focus its energy on its next product.
Verizon gives up on its Android Wear watch after 4 months

Verizon has quietly discontinued the Android Wear 2.0 device a little over 4 months after its mid-May debut. The carrier isn't explaining the decision other than to confirm that it happened, but it's safe to say the Wear24 wasn't selling well -- you just don't drop a product that quickly if sales are at all decent. There's also no hint as to what people didn't enjoy about the watch, but... well, we have a few ideas.

Microsoft has stopped selling new Xbox One consoles in the US and UK. Technically, it's listed as "sold out" on the Microsoft Store and doesn't even show up in searches for Xbox systems. It seems the original version of the console that launched in November 2013 has finally been retired; All hail the slimmer S and souped-up X versions.

Sweden has dropped its investigation into Julian Assange over allegations of rape, dramatically changing the plot in a standoff that has lasted seven years. The charges were first leveled at the WikiLeaks founder in 2010, causing him to seek asylum at the Ecuadorian embassy in 2012 after losing a series of appeals. He's been sequestered there ever since, and could finally go free once the withdrawal of his warrant is confirmed by a London court, possibly by the end of the day.
Nintendo's NES Classic has been discontinued in Europe too
When Nintendo pulled the NES Classic from its website and retailers in the US, we knew it was only a matter of time before the same happened on the other side of the Atlantic. It took four days, but the company today confirmed to Eurogamer that the tiny retro console is no longer on sale in Europe, meaning it's now been discontinued worldwide.
