If you've been longing to ditch your cable provider for PS Vue, PlayStation's streaming take on "television," then you'll like what Sony Computer Entertainment head Andrew House announced at E3 today. This July, PlayStation users will have the option to sign-up for à la carte programming. That's right, individual channels will be made available for subscription, allowing users to opt-out of pricey programming tiers. The new subscription feature will launch with Showtime, Machinima and Fox Soccer Channel. What's more, House confirmed that PS Plus subscribers will be privy to unspecified discounts for programming packages. And if that wasn't enough good news, House also added that, starting tonight, PS Vue will be made available to PS4 users in Los Angeles and San Francisco. • 'Final Fantasy VII' is getting a genuine remake on PS4

Final Fantasy VII is being remade. It's coming to PS4 (at least first) and it's all beautiful and goosebumpy. That all-too PC version? Well, that's probably coming too. But this is what I, er, you wanted. The trailer is suitably obtuse, but there are glimpses of a guy with a gun for an arm and some blonde guy toting an oversized "buster" sword. Whoever that is. Get ready to squeal -- well, a little -- after the break.

  • 'Destiny' expansion 'The Taken King' lands September 15

Destiny has been a massive hit since it debuted at the end of last year, and tonight during PlayStation's E3 event, we got our first look at its next big expansion: The Taken King. It's supposed to launch on September 15th, and will see players facing off with the dad of the big bad they killed in the game's second raid. Known as Oryx, The Taken King is (of course) amassing a dark army of darkness that will need to be eliminated so players can get loot. It looks like players will face enemies from all of the groups seen so far in Destiny, and there will again be some PlayStation-exclusive content when the add-on launches. • Sony invites PS4 gamers to invade each other's 'Dreams'

Leave it to Media Molecule, the Sony first-party studio responsible for the crafty Tearaway and level-creation bonanza that is LittleBigPlanet, to introduce something a little different at E3. Dreams, as the new title is called, takes a unique approach to gameplay, letting PlayStation 4 users create, explore and "remix" each other's dreams. Alex Evans, studio co-founder, explained that by using the DualShock 4's motion controls, players can easily "piece together a whole environment in moments." There's also the ability to animate characters of your own creation using performance capture.

  • 'The Last Guardian' is still happening and it's coming to PS4 in 2016

The Last Guardian. It still exists and Sony opened its big E3 showcase with footage of a toga-clad boy exploring ancient structures with his giant behaving-like-a-pet Fox-Hawk-Dog beast. Fumito Ueda's beautiful on-off-on-again game is filled with the stylistic licks of Ico and Shadow of the Colossus, but now with the power of PS4 beating behind it. The E3 event finally showed off how the game will play out, with your beastly buddy doing its fair share of destructive creation -- and also coming through in a pinch. The long-delayed title is coming next year. Can you believe it? Check here for everything happening at E3 2015!

Believe it or not, Sony couldn't even wait for its E3 event to get started to share some news about the PlayStation 4. The company is launching a media player for its console with some playback features you might miss from your PS3. It'll stream media from DLNA-compatible devices on your local network, for a start, and you can plug in a USB drive if you'd rather play locally stored music and videos. The player should be available later tonight, so it won't be long before you can try it for yourself. Check here for everything happening at E3 2015!

Sony's setting itself up for a pretty big 2016 -- with the release of the Project Morpheus virtual reality headset, a remastered Ratchet & Clank title and Uncharted 4: A Thief's End all expected next year. But does that mean there's nothing to look forward to in the second half of 2015? Watch as Sony outlines its plan for this year and beyond at 6PM PT (9PM ET) on June 15th. You can expect the company to discuss first-party franchises (possibly including some that have yet to make their PS4 debut) as well as the upcoming roster of third-party and indie titles. Heck, there might even be a few last-gen titles that have earned the right to a "remastered" makeover. Check out the livestream below and rest assured we'll have all the news from the event in our liveblog right here. Check here for everything happening at E3 2015!

  • The Xbox One's revamped interface is all about speed and community

When Microsoft said it had a new Xbox One user experience in store at E3, it wasn't joking around. The company has unveiled its redesigned console interface, and it has very little in common with the tile-based UI you use today. The focuses here are on speed and community -- there's a quick menu for some of your most common tasks, and a prominent activity feed shows what your friends are up to. Oh, and Microsoft's Cortana voice assistant will play a big role on the Xbox, too. You can tell the system to handle certain duties (such as starting a party) at any point, even while you're playing. Microsoft hasn't said just when the new experience arrives beyond "soon," but the tech giant has historically rolled out these bigger Xbox updates late in the year. Update: Check after the break for a quick video walkthrough of the new UI. Check here for everything happening at E3 2015!

  • Ubisoft's 'Ghost Recon Wildlands' is an open-world tactical shooter

    06.15.2015

Well, here's something you probably didn't expect from Ubisoft's E3 event: an open-world Ghost Recon game. The developer's just-unveiled Ghost Recon Wildlands has you fighting a Bolivian drug cartel using whatever means you see fit, whether it's sniping targets from a distance, sneaking in under cover of night or simply causing chaos. Vehicles will play an important role, and it'll also be important to get help from (or be wary of) locals. Ubisoft is saying precious little about when Wildlands will show up or what its mechanics are like, but it'll have both co-op and solo play when it arrives on PC, PS4 and Xbox One. Last year Call of Duty brought Kevin Spacey, and for 2015, Ubisoft is calling on Angela Basset to star in its next Rainbow Six game. Named Six, she's the leader of your terrorist-hunting squad, doling out the intel needed to eliminate targets. Ubisoft also showed off a live demo of five players participating in the revamped Terrohunt mode that can be played solo or cooperatively. Rainbow Six Siege is set for release on October 13th, while a beta on all platforms (PC, PS4, Xbox One) is scheduled for September 24th offering both PvP and Terrohunt -- sign up here. • Ubisoft's 'The Division' arrives on March 8th, 2016

Ubisoft's The Division has seen a protracted development cycle, to say the least -- the studio unveiled the Tom Clancy-badged online shooter back in 2013, and a release has been elusive ever since. At last, though, you have a date to mark on your calendar. The apocalyptic title will reach the PC, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One on March 8th, 2016, and Xbox One gamers will get their chance to play in a closed beta test in December. PC and PS4 players will also get a shot at playing early, but Ubisoft is coy about details beyond an early 2016 testing window.

  • There's a new 'South Park' game and it's all about superheroes

Well, Ubisoft just kicked off its E3 press conference with what's definitely a crowd pleaser: a new South Park game. Aisha Tyler (she of "LANAAAAA!!!" fame) brought out South Park creators Trey Parker and Matt Stone to announce the title, South Park: The Fractured But Whole (get it? yeah), which is available for pre-order now. The game's currently in development -- sorry, no release date was mentioned -- with Ubisoft's San Francisco studio and picks up where Stick of Truth left off. You're still the "new kid," but this time you and the South Park crew are playing superheroes. "At the end of Truth, we kinda realized how to make video games," said Matt Stone onstage. And well, considering how many patches were issued for Truth, Matt, we're inclined to agree. Check here for everything happening at E3 2015!

  • Try hating 'Star Wars Battlefront' now that you've seen it

Star Wars Battlefront invades PC, Xbox One and PlayStation 4 on November 17th with large-scale multiplayer gameplay and a lot of classic series trimmings. We're talking lightsabers, X-Wings, AT-STs and more. You can see a lot of those in the gameplay video below, in a battle inspired by the Hoth sequence from The Empire Strikes Back, captured on PlayStation 4. It's pre-alpha gameplay (meaning incredibly early), but it looks bombastic with a sense of scale I haven't seen in a Star Wars game to date. The AT-AT feels like a monstrous, multi-story death contraption that could kill you underfoot if you walk too close to it.

Ubisoft's E3 blitz is a curious mix of triple-A titles, like Assassins Creed, as well as, er, Raving Rabbits and Just Dance iterations. It's also typically had a spadeful of spectacle thrown into the mix. And that's probably a very good reason to liveblog it -- so we're going to. Expect more information on Ubisoft's premier titles, more information on Rainbow Six: Siege. It all starts at 2:45PM PT, or 5:45PM ET. Come on over and join us!

  • EA shows off its stable of upcoming sports blockbusters

As expected, EA took the stage at E3 2015 to showcase the next installment of its popular sports franchises. That, of course, includes FIFA 16, Madden 16, NBA Live 16, NHL 16 and Rory McIlroy PGA Tour. This year, like most others, EA Sports is focusing on evolution rather than revolution, so people familiar with these titles won't notice any major change. But that's not to say some things haven't changed. In the case of FIFA 16, for example, there are all-new defensive mechanics, which will help you defend better ground against attacking players. For NBA 16, EA Sports revealed an app that can take your picture and then use it as a custom character's face -- the most impressive part about this is how it only takes a couple of minutes.

Do you recall that Mirror's Edge reboot we reported on at last year's E3, and the E3 before that? Yeah, EA is finally providing a close look at the long-in-the-making parkour title Mirror's Edge Catalyst, which is slated to arrive February 23rd, 2016, on the PS4, Xbox One and PC. As hinted early on, you're witnessing Faith's origins as she becomes an underground hero in the corporate-dominated City of Glass. This is an open-world story with no arbitrary levels and loading times -- your main goal is simply to navigate the urban landscape and fight the oppressive regime of business mastermind Gabriel Kruger. There are a few new activities, too, such as A-to-B races and the as-yet-undescribed "Dash" mode. The new Mirror's Edge will be playable on the show floor, and you can be sure that we'll give it a spin. Joseph Volpe contributed to this report. Check here for everything happening at E3 2015!
