Google tweaks Hangout Chat app to keep conversations organized
Google has made a couple of changes to the design of the Hangout Chat app to make it easier to keep track of your conversations and stay organized. The previously singular list of People, Rooms and Bots has been split into two tabs: People and Rooms, with Bots included in the People tab. Google has also removed the filter at the top of these tabs to make navigation simpler. Search using the magnifying glass at the top of the screen, or start a chat by tapping + in the bottom right corner. These changes are rolling out on iOS and Android now.
Gmail's new out of office warning will stop you sending unwanted emails

Gmail’s ‘dynamic email’ will be available to everyone July 2nd
You'll soon be able to do a lot more in Gmail -- without ever leaving your inbox. Google will make AMP-powered "dynamic emails" for Gmail available to the general public on July 2nd, following a beta release to paying G Suite customers earlier this year. You've undoubtedly encountered AMP, or "accelerated mobile pages" if you've opened a link on your phone; it's a Google-built protocol that can load web pages using it a lot more quickly. With AMP in Gmail, users perform web-based tasks right in their inbox, such as filling out forms, RSVPing to an event, responding to an edit in Google Docs, or browsing images in a carousel. The feature will only be available for Gmail on the web, with mobile due to come at an unspecified date.
Google Docs' AI grammar checker rolls out to G Suite users
Google Docs' AI grammar suggestions are no longer limited to early adopters. The company is rolling out the machine learning tool for G Suite users, giving them an easier way to polish their reports. As Google outlined last year, this isn't a spelling checker with some grammar rules thrown in. The machine translation tech at the heart of the suggestions can detect nuances in grammar, whether it's a simple matter of word choice (like "their" versus "there") or the proper use of a subordinate clause.
G Suite pincode verification gives non-Google users access to files
While a company can require its employees to create Google accounts for collaborative work, it can't always force clients to do the same thing. Especially if those clients still swear by Google's competitors, like Microsoft. Now, Mountain View is making it possible for anyone to access Docs, Sheets and Slides files even if they don't have a Google account and even if they refuse to make one -- perhaps as part of its efforts to entice people to sign up, as well. The tech giant has launched the beta version of a new pincode identity verification process that allows G Suite users to invite non-G-Suite ones to collaborate on a file.
Google brings Smart Reply to Hangouts Chat
Google is incorporating its Smart Reply feature into Hangouts Chat, giving users up to three reply options that they can quickly select, edit and send. The company said the feature is backed by machine learning similar to what's behind Gmail's Smart Reply, adding that the move is part of its larger effort to bring these sorts of tools to all of G Suite. Google announced earlier this year that it planned to bring the feature to more chat apps.
Google introduces Gmail integrations for Dropbox, Box and more

Holding so much of your data means that Google needs to take your security very, very seriously, especially for corporate customers. That's why the company is making the Alert Center for G Suite available to all, letting users better deal with threats to their data.
Google Slides automatically captions your presentations
If you want to caption a presentation for people who are deaf or hard of hearing, you typically have to do it yourself. Google might just save you that trouble -- it's launching an automatic closed captioning feature for Slides. Plug a microphone into your computer, hit a "CC" button and Slides will automatically caption your speech as you walk through the presentation. As the captions arrive in real-time, you don't have to worry about stopping on each slide to give your audience a chance to read.
Google Drive 'Priority' AI monitors your team to surface the right files
Google's 'G Suite' of apps and services has been applying machine learning everywhere over the last couple of years, and the latest update it's testing for Google Drive goes a bit further. Two years ago it launched the machine learning-enhanced Quick Access feature to put files it thinks users need right in front of them before they even start searching. Google said users have reported that feature saves about 50 percent of their time.
Google supports small-scale journalism with free G Suite licenses
Earlier this year, Google announced that it would put $300 million towards fighting fake news and part of that effort included the Google News Initiative, a program aimed at strengthening the quality of journalism, enabling new business models to drive growth and empowering news organizations through innovative technologies. Now, the company says it will support local, small and medium-sized news organizations through its new Google News Initiative Cloud Program.
Google's redesigned Voice app is better at juggling your calls
Google recently added Voice to its enterprise G Suite, and the revamped app has now arrived for iOS users. As suggested by the redesigned icon (which strongly resembles the Hangouts Dialer icon), its main job is to give users calling features via standard telephony over and above what you'd expect on regular apps. As such, it can do things like email you about missed calls, transcribe messages, enable "do not disturb" based on your working hours and access contacts stored elsewhere in G Suite.
