When Apple introduced the much-improved 16-inch MacBook Pro, it raised an obvious question: when will the 13-inch model get a similar update? You might not have to wait too much longer. Analyst Ming-Chi Kuo (who has a history of mostly accurate near-term forecasts) has followed up on past claims with an investor note asserting that Apple will replace the 13-inch MacBook Pro in 2020 with a 14.1-inch model using a mini-LED screen that would promise higher contrast ratios, wider color ranges and other image quality boosts. Kuo was shy on other details, but it's safe to presume this new model would get the upgraded keyboard and other refinements from its 16-inch sibling.

The rise of Fortnite has coincided with that of Tyler "Ninja" Blevins. While the streamer had a sizable following before the battle royale exploded in popularity, he became Fortnite's best-known player and a megastar on Twitch (until he defected to Mixer). Now, Ninja will actually be a part of the game in which he truly made his name with his very own Fortnite skin. It'll be available to purchase between Thursday and Sunday.

Brydge has developed a solid reputation for tablet keyboards over the years, and it's clearly taking advantage of that as 2020 gets underway. The company has unveiled a slew of accessories, starting with a slew of Surface keyboards. The Brydge 12.3 Pro (above) and Brydge 10.0 Go will respectively offer alternatives to the Type Cover for Surface Pro models and the Surface Go when they arrive in the second quarter of 2020, while a Brydge Pro X keyboard will be ready for Surface Pro X owners in the second half of the year. And if you're just looking for Windows desktop peripherals, the W-Type keyboard and W-Touch trackpad will appear in the second quarter.

If you were lucky enough to get an iPad Pro this Christmas and want to use your new Apple tablet to its fullest, both Amazon and Best Buy have discounted the second-generation Apple Pencil by $30, making it $99. According to price tracker Camelcamelcamel, $99 is the cheapest Amazon has sold the stylus for. With how infrequently Apple products go on sale, now is the time to buy the accessory if you want it and have the cash to spare.

iPad Pro and MacBook Pro could switch to mini LED displays in late 2020

Never mind Apple expanding the use of OLED in its devices -- it may go one step further with its future hardware. Well-known analyst Ming-Chi Kuo (who has a reputation for largely accurate Apple predictions) believes that Apple will start using mini LED displays in its devices in late 2020, starting with updated versions of the 12.9-inch iPad Pro (what, no love for the 11-inch model?) and the 16-inch MacBook Pro. There will eventually be four to six products in Apple's lineup using mini LED, Kuo claimed, but there will be a gradual transition.

Huawei has unveiled the 10.8-inch MatePad Pro, an iPad Pro-like tablet that we saw earlier via a leak. While it does bear a strong resemblance to Apple's 11-inch iPad Pro, the MatePro has even slimmer 4.9mm bezels made possible by an 8-megapixel hole-punch front camera, according to Engadget Chinese. It's also got a slightly higher-resolution 2,560 x 1,600 display that can output a very bright 540 nits while supporting the DCI-P3 color gamut.

Walmart's early Black Friday deal: 512GB 10.5-inch iPad Pro for $599

    by

    11.14.2019

Black Friday is still a couple of weeks away but retailers are doing everything they can to get and keep your attention right now. For Walmart, that means releasing its ad now to tease Black Friday offers like a $129 Apple Watch Series 3, $99 Samsung Chromebook Series 3 or a 1080p 40-inch Roku Smart TV from its house brand onn. for $98. Deals you can jump on starting today include a 512GB 10.5-inch iPad Pro for $599 -- the lowest price we've seen. This is the 2017-era second generation model, so while it doesn't come with newer features like FaceID, A12X Bionic CPU or a USB-C connector, it still packs impressive power to multitask with Apple's new iPad OS, and at this price -- a comparable third-gen Pro costs $1,149 -- its performance is hard to beat. At the time we originally reviewed it, two problems were that it was expensive and iOS 11 wasn't out yet -- those have now been addressed. Buy 10.5-inch 512GB iPad Pro on Walmart - $599 If you have milder tablet aspirations, there's also a 7-inch 8GB Samsung Galaxy Tab A available now for $78. Walmart has more pre-Black Friday deals planned for next Friday too, so stay tuned. Buy Samsung Galaxy Tab A on Walmart - $78

You might have to wait a while for the next iPad Pro, although it might provide some clever features in the bargain. Bloomberg sources claim Apple is planning to release the new pro tablet "as early as" the first half of 2020, and that it would include both two cameras as well as a Face ID-like 3D sensor system to help people create "reconstructions of rooms, objects and people." The rumored 3D sensor on iPhones would come later -- you might have to get the iPad Pro if you want Apple's first crack at the new augmented reality tech.

It's been over a year since Adobe first announced it was bringing Photoshop to the iPad, and the app finally debuts today. Not letting any time pass before moving on to the next challenge, Adobe is announcing that it's working to do the same for Illustrator at its annual MAX design conference. The app won't arrive until sometime in 2020, but when it does, the company's two biggest desktop design applications will be available for use on Apple's tablets.

Adobe's Creative Cloud service comes with about 20 apps, as well as bonuses like video tutorials and a huge font library. Those fonts -- all 17,000 of them -- are now available for subscribers to use in compatible iPhone and iPad apps, as long as you're running iOS 13.1 or later. The previously desktop-exclusive typefaces are designed by well known foundries and cover plenty of styles, so you'll be able to get creative instead of sticking with the same handful of overused fonts.

2020 iPhones may take design cues from the iPhone 4

The iPhone 11, which was revealed earlier this month, bears more than a passing resemblance to both the iPhone X and iPhone XS. That's a bit of a bummer, since we'll have been stuck with roughly the same design for three years (not to mention that the notch is still there). Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo, however, says that the design will be replaced with something closer to that of the iPhone 4 for the 2020 lineup of phones.

If the early impressions of Adobe Fresco nabbed your interest, you're in luck. The powerful drawing and painting app is now available for everyone to use on iPad. As you might expect, Creative Cloud subscribers will have the fastest access, and Fresco is included in the All Apps plan, the Photoshop-only plan and education plans. If that's not you, there's an option to purchase it separately for $9.99/month with six months for free if you sign up by December 31st. There is also a free version that Adobe says will offer "many" of the same features, but you'll lose the ability to use some of the app's "professional tools."

iPad Pro leak suggests tablet photography just won’t die

One notable omission from last week's iPhone launch event was a new iPad Pro, but now we have some idea of what to expect from Apple's latest pro-level tablet. The blog of frequent Apple leaker Sonny Dickson shared what they claim is a "final design" mockup of the new 11-inch iPad Pro. As you can see, much like the iPhone 11 Pro and 11 Pro Max, the tablet features three main cameras. The mockup doesn't include the glass cover that's found on the iPhone 11 Pro. The website says it's not sure whether the missing cover is an omission by the mockup designer, or if it's an indication of the iPad Pro's final design.

Apple's keyboard folio shouldn't cost half the price of its new cheap iPad

When Apple announced a new base model iPad with a larger screen and a smart connector, I was hooked. I've been fixated with buying a new iPad precisely because of the smart keyboard folio, but it's been a little pricey. For me, that one accessory is transformative, turning a tablet into a pure writing machine, and if it was affordable, all the better. Apple wants to charge you $159 for a $329 tablet's keyboard.

Best Buy is running another massive 3-day weekend sale. If that sounds familiar, it's because the retailer slashed prices just a few weeks ago. This time around, Best Buy is cutting prices on the latest entry-level MacBook Pro and MacBook Air. It's offering steep discounts on iPads, Surface notebooks and some of our favorite headphones. The sale runs through Sunday.

LG's UltraFine 5K Display has returned after a months-long hiatus, although you might not scramble to get one depending on what device you're using. The updated version of the 27-inch monitor is compatible with the USB-C output from recent iPad Pros, making it a viable option if you need a large secondary screen for media previews or screen mirroring. The earlier model only played nicely with Thunderbolt.

Apple filings hint at new iPads coming soon

Apple has been busy in the tablet space this year between the new iPad Air and an overdue iPad mini update, but what about everybody else? You're getting your fix soon, apparently. MySmartPrice has discovered filings at the Eurasia Economic Commission for five unannounced iPads, two in one filing and three in another. The entries say precious little about the hardware itself, but these are definitely new models -- they'll all run iPadOS. As it stands, there are murmurs hinting at what you might expect.
