Score Breakdown
Spectacles are so good that it’s a shame the access to them is so limited. But I’m also glad Snap is taking this one step at a time. It’s like a bizarro version of the Google Glass beta: a limited rollout, but done in a way that fosters fascination ... instead of just revulsion.
If you use Snapchat, you're going to want a pair of these.
If you can get your hands on them, Snapchat Spectacles are a stylish, playful wearable accessory to take your first-person social media curation to the natural next level.
Spectacles are so simple that they’re tough to “review” but here’s my bottom line: They’re totally awesome not because of the hardware but in spite of it. Just one tap and you’re capturing life from your point of view.
Spectacles might not be the most advanced tech product of 2016, but they are the most fun. Now, go in search of a Snapbot.
For $130, the product seems worth the money, and would be fun to have on-hand for the few days a year you're at a music festival or taking a road trip with friends. But don't be surprised if, after a few selfies and a couple fun POV videos, your Spectacles start to gather dust.
Snapchat Spectacles succeed precisely because they're a simple pair of camera-equipped sunglasses — not a computer on your face.
Spectacles are a fun, easy-to-use wearable that's made for Snapchat's most active users.
Snapchat Spectacles are a great case for embedding technology into existing fashion accessories. A wearable doesn't have to look as different ... to be considered innovative. And wouldn't it be cool to use Glass's interface on something that looked like a pair of Specs?
I can't wait to see what Snapchat does with Spectacles, somehow I think this is only the beginning.
