The show with the second-highest tally of nominations is Amazon Prime Video's The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel with 20. It won several awards last year, including the top Outstanding Comedy Series prize. It's nominated again in that category.
CBS All Access show 'The Good Fight' comes to TV June 16th
When The Good Fight debuted on CBS All Access, it became the streaming service's first exclusive show. It's kept audiences hooked since 2017 and was recently renewed for a fourth season. Emmy Awards will kill off DVD screeners for good in 2020
Today's dispatch from the bureau of "Wait, they were still doing that?" comes from the Television Academy of Arts and Sciences. Deadline Hollywood is reporting that the people behind the Emmy Awards has decided to phase out the distribution of screener DVDs from its nominations process. In its place, the service will adopt a new members-only streaming service where they can watch items submitted for consideration.

Netflix will split the fifth season of ‘Arrested Development’
Last week, Netflix announced that the fifth season of Arrested Development would be released on May 29th, but it turns out we'll only be getting half of the season. Entertainment Weekly reports today that the season will be split, with the first eight episodes being released at the end of the month and the final eight debuting sometime later. The streaming service is also doing this with the upcoming fourth season of Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt, a move likely made in order to ensure it would meet the May 31st Emmy consideration deadline.
Amazon’s NFL series returns for a third season April 27th
Amazon's sports documentary series All or Nothing is coming back next month for a third season and this time it follows the Dallas Cowboys. The eight-episode season starts off on a handful of positive notes -- owner Jerry Jones was elected into the Pro Football Hall of Fame and head coach Jason Garrett is 2016's NFL Coach of the Year. But it's not all good news. The league suspends running back Ezekiel Elliott for six games following an investigation into allegations of repeated instances of domestic violence -- a decision that was then appealed and put on hold multiple times. And the team is put in the spotlight over its and Jones' response to NFL players kneeling during the national anthem. Ultimately, the Cowboys' season, full of ups and downs, ends just short of the playoffs.
Patton Oswalt returns to Netflix this October with a new special
Patton Oswalt's honest, story-based stand-up and everyman persona has brought him quite a bit of success. He's active and loved on Twitter and won an Emmy for his 2016 Netflix special, Talking for Clapping. His wife Michelle McNamara died last February, and Oswalt is just starting to get back to work with projects like his role on the MST3K reboot with Felicia Day. Now he's landed another Netflix special, which is set to air October 17th.
Facebook Live gets its first Emmy nod for an ACLU telethon
2017 is truly the year of online video services at the Emmys. Following announcements that Netflix, Hulu and Amazon all nabbed a hefty number of nominations, Facebook has revealed that some of its Live events also scored an Emmy nod. Stand for Rights: A Benefit for the ACLU With Tom Hanks, a telethon that put Facebook's donate button to good use, has been nominated for outstanding creative achievement in interactive media within an unscripted program.

YouTube creators stand a real chance of winning Emmy awards
While movie and TV award shows are increasingly willing to recognize internet video, they still tend to focus on conventional productions with reasonably big budgets. However, they're about to broaden their horizons: the Television Academy has expanded the Emmys to not only include more internet-friendly short form categories (such as outstanding actor/actress and outstanding variety series), but widen its definitions to make room for more internet-only video shows. While you probably won't see your favorite "let's play" star take home a statuette, this gives YouTubers with artistic ambitions (such as PewDiePie and Lilly Singh) a much better shot at winning a major, peer-voted award.
Amazon discounts Prime subscriptions to celebrate its Emmy wins
If you haven't heard, Amazon original series Transparent won five Emmys over the weekend, including Jeffrey Tambor nabbing Outstanding Lead Actor in a Comedy Series. He knows her anatomy all too well. It's been built from scratch for an upcoming TV series in his workshop in Monrovia, California.
'Sleepy Hollow' for Oculus wins first virtual reality Emmy
Virtual reality has officially become mainstream, as an Emmy has been awarded to a work created for a VR headset (the Oculus Rift DK2) for the first time. The Sleepy Hollow Virtual Reality Experience (below), co-produced by Fox and Toronto-based Secret Location, won in the "Interactive Media, User Experience and Visual Design" category. It debuted at Comic-Con, and gave thousands of Oculus Rift users the unique gift of seeing what it would be like to have their heads cut off and held aloft by the Headless Horseman.
