Konami’s TurboGrafx-16 mini has been delayed due to coronavirus

The TurboGrafx-16 is the latest system from the late '80s and early '90s to get a mini console revival and join the likes of the Nintendo NES Classic Edition and Sega Genesis Mini. Fans will have to wait, though, as production has been delayed indefinitely for both the western TurboGrafx-16 mini and the Japanese PC Engine Core Grafx mini consoles -- and you know why.

'Castlevania: Symphony of the Night' unexpectedly arrives on mobile

Beloved classic Castlevania has been ported many times and now -- entirely without warning -- it's come to mobile. Konami's Castlevania: Symphony of the Night is available on both iOS and Android for $3, without in-app purchases. The side-scrolling action-RPG is based on the PSP and PS4 take on the game -- not the original PlayStation version -- and there's support for six languages (English, Japanese, German, French, Italian and Spanish), external controllers and achievements.

Netflix's Halloween lineup includes 'The Shining'

Netflix has certainly touted its Halloween shows before, but this year you may have a particularly good reason to pay attention. The streaming giant has outlined all the horror movies and thrillers you can expect to see in the run-up to October 31st, and the highlight this year might not be one of its originals. You see, The Shining arrives on October 1st -- you now have an easy way to watch Stanley Kubrick's adaptation of the classic Stephen King novel. It's a well-worn tale for horror fans, but it could be worthwhile to remind yourself why you shouldn't visit room 237.

    What we're playing: 'Dead Cells'

You know the drill: Last year's PC indie sleeper gets new life with a Switch release. Motion Twin's Dead Cells is one of these. It's been out for a year on Steam Early Access, but properly arrived last week on all platforms, including Nintendo's hybrid console. The game is a good fit for the system: It's a side-scrolling hack-and-slash rogue-lite with plenty of paths to explore over your many, many runs. It has simple yet delightfully vibrant visuals, and all the action is compact enough to track while playing the console on the go. In short, it's exactly the kind of title Nintendo needs on the Switch.

'Castlevania' is coming to 'Super Smash Bros. Ultimate'

Nintendo just murdered Luigi during a livestream about Super Smash Bros. Ultimate. Killing beloved characters is the point of Smash Bros., after all, and Nintendo took the opportunity to add two more to the list: Simon and Richter Belmont, stars of the Castlevania series. Richter is an echo fighter, using the same moves as Simon but with a different skin and some custom animations. They'll both be in the game when it lands on Nintendo Switch on December 7th.

'Bloodstained' will scratch your 'Castlevania' itch

Castlevania: Symphony of the Night (SotN) is one of the most influential games ever made. First released for the original PlayStation in 1997, the game has since been ported to nearly every platform under the sun. It perfected the series' core design concept where players could explore gigantic 2D environments at will, collecting new abilities that unlocked hidden-in-plain-sight secrets in previously traversed areas. It also iterated on the superb Super Metroid released for the SNES three years prior. That framework was so well-done that it spawned its own genre ("Metroidvania") and countless games have used it since. Koji Igarashi, SotN's co-creator, has finally brought his crowdfunded (and SotN spiritual successor) Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night to E3. How does it play? Pretty close to the original.
