Instagram's new Story camera makes it even more like Snapchat
Ever since its arrival in 2016, the Instagram Stories feature has had a very familiar look and feel compared to Snapchat. Today Instagram head Adam Mosseri announced that it's rolling out an updated camera with easier to browse effects and filters that are easier to sort through -- apparently they still have energy left after killing the "Following" feed and adding Dark Mode. It still looks a lot like Snapchat, although maybe you'll find it more unique than we did. There are other new features too, like a "Create" mode where you can play around with the interactive stickers without taking a picture first, and you can even use a GIF as the background for your next Story post. The features are live now, so make sure you're the first one on your timeline to use them.
Facebook Dating launches in the US today
More than a year after Facebook announced its dating service, the company is finally bringing it to the US today. Nathan Sharp, product lead at Facebook, revealed the news at an event in New York City, making the US the 20th country where Facebook Dating is now live. In addition to coming to the States, Facebook Dating is available in Argentina, Bolivia, Brazil, Canada, Chile, Columbia, Ecuador, Guyana, Laos, Malaysia, Mexico, Paraguay, Peru, the Philippines, Singapore, Suriname, Thailand, Uruguay and Vietnam. Facebook says the service will be coming to Europe, too, "by early 2020."
You can share Pandora music and podcasts on Instagram, if you want
Pandora users will now be able to share their favorite stations and podcasts to Instagram. The streaming radio service announced a new integration with Instagram Stories that will allow users to reveal their listening habits on the platform. But the perk doesn't end at merely letting your friends know you're listening to the latest Lizzo album. If a friend taps the "Play on Pandora" button on your Instagram story, they'll get direct access to the content you shared as well as Pandora's entire music and podcasts library. In return, they'll have to watch a short ad.
Tidal shares songs as Stories in Facebook and Instagram
iHeartRadio isn't the only streaming music service helping you share music as Stories in recent days. Tidal has introduced an option to share tunes directly as Stories in Facebook and Instagram, helping you convey your musical mood to your followers. You can share videos, too -- viewers will see 15-second snippets of concerts and other footage if you post clips on Instagram, and still images on Facebook.
