Game Developers Conference will stream panels and awards for free
Just because the in-person Game Developers Conference is cancelled for 2020 doesn't mean you'll be out of luck if you want to keep abreast of game industry news. GDC organizers are planning to stream free, recorded versions of the talks that presenters had intended to deliver between March 16th and March 20th, from 12PM to 8PM Eastern each day. You'll also see the GDC Awards and the Independent Games Festival ceremonies on GDC's Twitch channel starting March 18th at 8PM Eastern, while the Day of the Devs showcase from Double Fine and iam8bit will air at 7PM. A full schedule should be available March 13th.

After first launching in preview on Android phones, Microsoft's Project xCloud is making its way over to iOS devices. Starting today, iPhone and iPad owners can check out the game streaming service through Apple's TestFlight platform.
Project xCloud is coming to Canada
Microsoft is making good on its promise to expand the Project xCloud preview in 2020 to include more than just three countries. The company has announced that its game streaming test will be available in Canada starting on January 29th, with registrations open as we write this. As in the US and UK, you'll have access to over 50 first- and third-party games (like Gears 5 and Tekken 7) through an Android phone or tablet. About the only difference is that you'll get to play in both English and French, so québécois and other francophones won't be left out.
Razer's Kishi gamepad plugs into your phone for minimal latency
No, that's not a Razer Phone 3 in the photo, but it's a Pixel 3a XL wedged between two halves of a new Razer gamepad. Following the Junglecat, Razer chose CES to launch the Kishi controller, which plugs straight into your Android (via USB-C) or iPhone for lower latency and hence faster response. Obviously, this can be life or death in world of competitive mobile gaming, especially with cloud gaming being pitched as a growing trend in the 5G era. On a similar note, the Kishi provides passthrough charging at the bottom right side, so you wouldn't have to worry about battery life while busy shooting at enemies.
Microsoft adds over 50 games to xCloud preview, plans launch for 2020
A month after Microsoft kicked off the preview for Project xCloud, its game streaming service that'll go toe-to-toe with Stadia, the company is planning to ramp things up even more. It's adding more than 50 new games to the xCloud preview, including Devil May Cry 5, Tekken 7 and Madden 2020, and laying out a broad plan of what we can expect from the service next year. Mostly, though, Microsoft is making it clear that it has a firmer handle on delivering a bold new game streaming service than Google, which is consistently stumbling ahead of Stadia's November 19th launch.
Microsoft starts inviting people to try Project xCloud
Microsoft is starting to invite players to test out its Project xCloud game streaming service. It said last month it would open up a public preview of the platform in October, allowing players to stream games to their Android devices. Now, it's starting to send out invitations to those eager to try it, with Halo 5: Guardians, Gears 5, Killer Instinct and Sea of Thieves available to play.
