Oh hey, they make Baby Yoda ears for your Echo Dot now

Attention fans of Star Wars, The Mandalorian or just Baby Yoda: if you own a third-generation Amazon Echo Dot, OtterBox has a stand that bestows your device with the likeness of The Child. Starting today, you can fill that void by pre-ordering the accessory from Amazon, according to a statement from OtterBox. Put your Echo Dot into the stand and, in addition to being securely held with a non-slip base, your device will now have Baby Yoda’s ears -- which OtterBox says will make your Echo Dot the “cutest bounty in the galaxy.”

Disney+ is preparing a 'The Mandalorian' behind-the-scenes series

If you’ve been eagerly awaiting the second season of The Mandalorian, which arrives this fall, you may be happy to learn that Disney+ is working on a new behind-the-scenes docuseries about the show. The eight-episode series, Disney Gallery: The Mandalorian, will include interviews with cast and crew, never-before-seen footage and roundtable conversations hosted by The Mandalorian’s executive producer Jon Favreau. The series premieres on May 4th, Star Wars Day, and new episodes will be available every Friday -- Disney+ will also drop the last chapter in The Clone Wars series on May 4th.

Disney+ discounts yearly subscriptions ahead of its European launch

When Disney dropped the surprise news that its popular streaming service would debut in Europe a week earlier than planned, the company was quickly pressed on whether it would offer any sign-up incentives like it did ahead of its US launch. After a brief period of silence, Disney has decided European users in a handful of countries (outside of The Netherlands, where it went live last year) will enjoy a small discount if they pre-order before the March 24th opening, promising £10/€10 off a full year on registrations before that date.

See how 'The Mandalorian' used Unreal Engine for its real-time digital sets

It's not surprising that a VFX-heavy show like The Mandalorian uses digital sets, even though it also relies heavily on practical, in-camera effects. What's more unexpected, however, is that the actors were able to see and perform within those sets rather than against a sterile green screen environment. To do all that, Jon Favreau and his team work with Epic Games to develop a new, innovative technique using digital sets projected on LED displays, using the Fortnite creator's Unreal game engine.

Hasbro's flurry of 'The Mandalorian' toys includes an animatronic Baby Yoda (updated)

Disney's bid to cash in on The Mandalorian's success has come a long, long way from when the company was scrambling to release crudely-designed shirts. Hasbro is releasing a deluge of toys and games meant to capitalize on the streaming show, and it won't surprise you to hear that The Child (aka Baby Yoda to everyone outside of Disney) plays a starring role. Most notably, there's an honest-to-goodness animatronic figure. The little one wiggles his head and ears, makes squeaky baby sounds and even tries to use his Force powers in the most adorable way possible. It will cost you $60, and yes, it is already available for pre-order on Amazon.

Disney+ may stagger episodes of 'The Mandalorian' in Europe

It's almost impossible to avoid spoilers for popular shows these days, especially big hits already available in their entirety like The Mandalorian. For Star Wars fans in regions where Disney+ still isn't available, that means having to stay vigilant to avoid spoilers or, you know, finding alternate means to see the whole show. That's why you'd think Disney would make all The Mandalorian's episodes available when its streaming service launches in some parts of Europe on March 24th, but that apparently won't be the case.

'The Mandalorian' returns with season two in fall 2020

It's no secret that a second season of The Mandalorian is in the works, but when does it show up? Roughly a year from now, apparently. Series overseer Jon Favreau has confirmed that the follow-up will premiere on Disney+ in fall 2020, or roughly a year after the Star Wars live action series began. He's still not saying what it'll entail (the Gamorrean isn't necessarily a clue), but this will be reassuring to anyone panicking at having to go without a fix of their favorite bounty hunter.

What's on TV this week: 'The Mandalorian' season finale

The holiday is throwing a wrench in this week's TV schedule, but no matter what, the highlight this week would be that other Star Wars finale. The Mandalorian is wrapping up its eight-episode run on Friday morning, and that might be the gift I'm looking forward to the most this week. Beyond the flagship Disney+ series, Netflix is bringing a second season of two highly-anticipated shows, You and Lost in Space. Also new this week is Ang Lee's Gemini Man -- you won't get a 120fps copy, but at least you can own it at home in 4K and HDR. There isn't much new this week in the way of video games or Blu-ray releases, but sports fans can check out college bowl games and a full slate of NBA action on Christmas Day. Look after the break to check out each day's highlights, including trailers and let us know what you think (or what we missed).

Disney cashes in on baby Yoda with crude online merch

It's not surprising that Disney went without merch for The Child (aka baby Yoda) when The Mandalorian premiered, since it would have spoiled one of the streaming show's most adorable surprises. However, the first offerings are... rushed, to put it mildly. The media megacorp has listed its first products themed around the sweet green toddler, and they look like they were produced at a make-your-own-shirt website -- you might have whipped up some yourself with a few minutes in Photoshop.
