Energy Sistem beefs up its budget i8 slate with Ice Cream Sandwich inside
Low-cost tablets are a dime a dozen in the Android world, what with no name offerings from Ainovo to budget stalwarts like Archos. But there's always room for more competition and Energy Sistem seems intent on elbowing its way to a prominent place at the bottom. A mild update to its existing slate lineup, the Energy Tablet i8 keeps the same 8-inch LCD display and 1,024 x 768 resolution (in 4:3 aspect ratio) of its Gingerbread-baked predecessors, but this time packages it with Ice Cream Sandwich onboard. The tab also comes equipped with an Arm Cortex A8 processor clocked at 1GHz, VGA front-facing / 2-megapixel rear camera setup, 8GB of storage (expandable to 64GB via microSD), 1GB RAM, HDMI-out, a 3,800mAh battery and support for WiFi b/g/n. It's up for pre-order now on the company's site, with an official release slated for this August 23rd. But at €185 (about $227), you might be better off saving up a few extra bills and shelling out for the more premium Nexus 7. Official PR after the break.
Energy Sistem's new tablets promise a taste of Honeycomb on Android 2.3
A trio of new tablets from Energy Sistem (a company known for low-end PMPs and e-readers) may not ordinarily turn many heads, but if you look closely at these you'll notice they don't quite match your average budget-minded slate running Android 2.x. They're not actually running Honeycomb, unfortunately, but rather a "Honeycomb-style" skin that's been slapped on top of Android 2.3 (much to the displeasure of Google, we presume). Otherwise, there's decidedly few surprises to be found -- you can choose from a 16:9, 7-inch or 4:3, 8-inch screen (with the higher-end model topping out at 1024 x 768), and they each pack an ARM A8 processor and either 4GB or 8GB of storage (with a microSD card slot for expansion). Prices are also expectedly on the low-end, running between $185 and $270, and all three are set to ship on November 19th. Hit the link below for the complete rundown.
Energy Sistem debuts colorful Color Book Series color e-reader
You may have more e-reader choices than ever these days, but if you primary concern is a device with a color screen that's also available in a number of different colors, you might just want to consider Energy Sistem's new Color Book Series e-reader. Of course, you won't actually get a touchscreen (just a regular 5-inch, 800 x 480 LCD), but there are plenty of buttons to make up for that shortcoming, and you will get a few decent features like audio and video playback, support for comics, a microSD card for expansion, and a case that doubles as a stand -- nothing crazy like a web browser or WiFi, though. Look for the 2GB model (available in red or blue) to set you back €129, or about $180, while 4GB white model and 8GB black model will run you €145 and €159, respectively.
Energy Sistem launches 52 Touch line of MP5 renders featuring TV output
Energy Sistem knows that there's no better way to kick-start your Friday morning than a handful of awfully similar looking renders for handheld media players! And while we're at it, we might as well mention that they are, in fact, renders of the new 52 Touch TV-out line. Featuring a 2.8-inch TFT touch-screen, speaker, TV-out, FM transmitter for the car, microphone, and support for DivX and XviD, FLV, RM / RMVB, MP3 / WMA / WAV music files, images and TXT files, this is pretty much everything you hoped for in a media player, and nothing else. Availabe in 4GB, 8GB, and 16GB capacities (not including the 16GB microSDHC card reader) prices start at €69 (roughly $88) and increase accordingly. Hit the source link for the inside scoop.
Energy Sistem debuts Energy Book 2061 e-reader
Energy Sistem may be best known for its PMPs (and curious spelling choices), but it also recently dipped its toes into the e-reader waters with its Energy Book 1060, and it's now already followed it up with its new Energy Book 2061. Not exactly any game-changing features here, but you will get a 6-inch Vizplex display, along with 64MB of internal memory (plus an SDHC card slot for expansion), an MP3 player, ePub and PDF support (among other standard formats), and a promised 6,000 page turns on a battery charge. Still no official word on a release over here, but this one should be available in Europe next month for €258, or about $350.
Energy Sistem unloads TV2090 PMP, still can't spell 'sisstem'
Here's a slick little item you might be interested in, if your county of residence happens to subscribe to the DVB-T TV standard. Energy Sistem's just unleashed its TV2090 PMP for the world to enjoy. This attractive yet seemingly quite cumbersome looker boasts a 9-inch LCD, a stereo speaker and AV output, and it supports DivX, Xvid, AVI, MPG and MP3 / WAV playback. Now like we said, the whole unit is rather large -- measuring 265 x 32 x 155 mm -- and while we don't have an exact weight for it, we'd guess it to be... large enough to be pretty annoying. Regardless, if you're in the market for a giant PMP, this one will be released in Europe in March for around €133 (or $187, if you're keeping track).
Energy Sistem rolls out speaker-equipped 30xx series PMPs
Energy Sistem usually keeps things as sparse as possible with its budget-minded PMPs, but the company looks to be trying out a few new tricks with its 30xx series of players, which pack a not-so-discreet speaker on the front and some decent enough specs all around. That includes a 1.8-inch LCD, up to 16GB of storage, an FM tuner, a built-in mic, dual headphone jacks, and support for all the basic audio / video formats, not to mention Microsoft's newfangled PlayFX sound enhancement thingamajig. No word on a release 'round here, as you might have guessed, but folks in at least some parts of Europe can apparently pick this one up now in their choice of a range of colors for €109, or about $149.[Via PMP Today]
Energy Sistem rolls out 4040 Touch PMP
As far as PMPs off the beaten path go, Energy Sistem's always seem to be a slight cut above the rest, and it's new 4040 Touch looks to be no exception, with it packing some reasonably high-end features into a bargain-priced but not too cheap-looking package. That includes a 2.8-inch QVGA touchscreen, 16GB of storage, a microSD card slot for further expansion, a built-in microphone, an FM tuner, support for most of the usual audio and video formats, and even support for Microsoft's PlayFX, all for a fairly reasonable €120, or about $150. If that's more than you need, the company apparently also recently rolled out its 5020 and 5021 models, which drop the touchscreen and cut the storage down to 4GB, and the price down to €85, or just over $100. Just don't be too surprised if they wind up looking slightly less polished that Energy Sistem's photos.[Via PMP Today]
Inngenio 6000 PMP does 2.8-inches of touchscreen on the cheap
Energy Sistem is making a play for your DAP dollar with the steel-crafted Inngenio 6000. The player runs a 2.8-inch QVGA touchscreen, with a built-in speaker, 2GB of storage and microSD expansion along for the ride. FM, voice recording, an e-book reader and some games are all included, and you can manage MP3, WMA and XVID playback. It's available now -- at least in Spain -- for €90 (about $138 US). Energy Sistem intros Ingenio 4000, 5000 PMPs
Energy Sistem may not exactly be the most household name, but its latest pair of PMPs looks to be decent enough to garner it a bit of notice, at least from those willing to tread in less-familiar waters. Of the two, the unfortunately-named Inngenio 4000 DUET HDP M-EX is the slightly higher-end model, with it boasting a 2.8-inch display, 6GB of storage, a miniSD card slot, an FM tuner and support for Xvid video files, among other more common formats. The Inngenio 5000 HDP M-EX, on the other hand, cuts the storage down to just 2GB, and relies on a standard SD card slot for expansion. It does, however, boast a slightly larger 3.5-inch LCD, although, despite appearances, neither display appears to be a touchscreen. From the looks of it, both are available in Europe now, with the Inngenio 4000 running €155 (or about $220) and the 5000 setting you back €120 (or roughly $170).[Via PMP Today]
