ViacomCBS' rumored new streaming service isn't a new service, it's a massive expansion of CBS All Access instead. In the company's most recent earnings presentation, CEO Bob Bakish outlined his plan to conquer the streaming market. Essentially, his plan is to throw the weight of ViacomCBS' content library onto CBS All Access to create a true streaming heavyweight.

A Netflix or Hulu subscription alone won't cut it anymore. The streaming landscape is fracturing as bastions of old media rise up with their own services, offering a blend of originals and library material. Over the coming months, the streaming video options will multiply like Gremlins, as the likes of Disney, Apple, WarnerMedia, NBCUniversal and mobile platform Quibi hop into the game.

The Television Academy has revealed this year's Emmy nominations and to absolutely no one's surprise, Game of Thrones scooped up the most nods with 32, including Outstanding Drama Series and 10 nominees across various acting categories. The show with the second-highest tally of nominations is Amazon Prime Video's The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel with 20. It won several awards last year, including the top Outstanding Comedy Series prize. It's nominated again in that category.

CBS has offered the first real peek at its upcoming Star Trek: Picard series with a minute-long teaser trailer. It doesn't offer much in the way of detail beyond a look at some vineyards, a case of Chateau Picard wine and a noticeably older Jean-Luc Picard (Patrick Stewart). It seems as though he's leading a peaceful lifestyle, but there's almost zero chance Picard's world will stay that way for long.

You no longer have to wonder how Jordan Peele would handle a reboot of The Twilight Zone. CBS All Access has shared the first trailer for the streaming series, and it appears to be what you'd hope for from the Get Out director: a more disturbing take on the classic show's familiar themes. There are unsettling coincidences, non-existent memories, and even disruptions of the 'natural' order of the universe. You also get peeks at some of the cast members, including Peele himself as well as Greg Kinnear, John Cho and Kumail Nanjiani.

Super Bowl LIII may have been the lowest-scoring of all time but its streaming numbers were higher than ever. Viewers tuned into the action across 7.5 million devices, up 20 percent from 2018, and consumed more than 560 million minutes of live game coverage, an increase of 19 percent from last year, according to CBS. The average minute audience of 2.6 million also witnessed a year-over-year spike of 31 percent.

How to watch the Super Bowl: A cord-cutter’s guide

We all know you don't have to be a fan of American football to watch the Super Bowl. The NFL's Big Game, which this year will be played between the New England Patriots and Los Angeles Rams, goes beyond the sport. Even if you don't like who's playing (we're looking at you, Tom Brady), the Super Bowl is the perfect excuse to get together with friends and enjoy a day full of seven-layer dip, chicken wings and, of course, booze. Thankfully, in 2019, the NFL is making it easy for everyone in the US to watch Super Bowl LIII, even if you don't have a cable or satellite account.

The rumors were true: Michelle Yeoh is getting her own Star Trek spinoff show. CBS All Access has confirmed that Yeoh will star in a new streaming series that elaborates on her character Captain Georgiou's role in Starfleet's mysterious Section 31, which plays an important role in Discovery's second season. Most details are still forthcoming, but it'll be executive produced by a familiar team that includes Discovery veteran Alex Kurtzman as well as Rod Roddenberry.

Ever since CBS confirmed that it was making an All Access Star Trek series based on Jean-Luc Picard, there's been one main question: namely, what's the story? You now have an inkling of what it will entail. Show creator Alex Kurtzman has revealed that the streaming show will tie into events mentioned in JJ Abrams' 2009 Star Trek movie, and that this has a dramatic effect on the iconic character (fair warning: there are spoilers for that movie below).

'Star Trek: Discovery' season two trailer shows plenty of Spock

Now that Star Trek: Discovery's second season is almost here, CBS All Access has released a full trailer to drum up hype -- and to no one's surprise, the stakes are high this time around. The season will see the Discovery crew partnering with Captain Pike to investigate seven unusual signals and the arrival of the mysterious Red Angel, who apparently brought warnings that "someone or something" is going to wipe out sentient life in the galaxy. And naturally, Spock gets ample screen time. He's a vital ally to the crew, but clearly at odds with Commander Burnham's tendency to shoulder everything herself. We wouldn't be surprised if there's more friction to come.

CBS All Access is notorious for releasing weekly episodes for its shows instead of dropping them all at once. Star Trek Discovery, for instance, debuted on the service in September 2017 and streamed weekly until February 2018. Now, the service is trying something new: it has put in a straight-to-series order for a new true crime series with the intention of releasing almost all its episodes at the same -- episodes you can watch in any order you want. The show, entitled Interrogation, is based on the true story of a young man charged with the brutal murder of his mother.

CBS All Access' rapidly growing library of Star Trek shows might including one revolving around a familiar star. Deadline claims Star Trek: Discovery's Michelle Yeoh is talking about reprising her role as Captain Georgiou in a "stand-alone" All Access series. The project would reportedly be an extension of Georgiou's story from Discovery season two. CBS has declined to comment on the apparent leak.

CBS All Access has been forging ahead with new Star Trek programming, and the streaming network has just greenlighted a new show. Star Trek: Lower Decks is a half-hour animated comedy developed by Mike McMahan, a writer for Rick and Morty and the upcoming Short Trek "The Escape Artist." CBS All Access has ordered two seasons of the show, which will focus on the support crew on one of Starfleet's less important ships. There's no word yet about the time frame for the show.
