  • Will.i.am promises to turn your iPhone into a 14-megapixel 'genius-phone'

Not content with his deliberately undefined role at Intel, the main pulse behind the Black Eyed Peas is preparing for yet another incursion into the world of technology -- this time by launching a dedicated camera accessory for the iPhone 4 and iPhone 5 (and presumably the 4S, too). Will.i.am claims the device has "its own sensor and a better flash" and will "turn your smartphone into a genius-phone" by replacing the native 5- or 8-megapixel camera module with one that churns out 14-megapixel images instead. The Telegraph reports that the add-on will be the first of a series of "i.am+" branded accessories that will launch on November 28th. No pricing has been revealed so far, but the range will be sold solely by Selfridges in London and -- much like Harrods with its own glam gadget exclusives -- that store isn't particularly known for bargains. • HTC EVO 3D priced at $200 on contract, free pack-ins cost your dignity

You've been able to pre-order an HTC EVO 3D since last week, but it involved a bit of a leap of faith since both price and release date were unannounced. Well, we can now solve at least one of those mysteries -- the EVO 3D will run you the industry standard $200 with a 2-year contract, while the commitment averse can snatch one up for $500. You can save yourself an extra $100 by picking yours up at RadioShack and trading in your EVO 4G or Shift 4G. Obviously, you'll still have to plunk down for the monthly "premium data add-on" and exactly when you'll be able to start leaving fingerprints all over that glasses-free 3D screen is still anybody's guess but, hey, at least it comes with a free copy of The Green Hornet and the Black Eyed Peas' Phenomenon. You know, because while a high-end smartphone may cost $200 on contract, good taste is priceless. [Thanks to everyone who sent this in]

  • Intel hires Will-i-am as 'director of creative innovation,' whole world is nonplussed

You know a job title is tenuous when even the guys who announce it have to put it in quotation marks -- Intel's just signed up the Black Eyed Peas' Will.i.am as a "director of creative innovation." The hip hop star responsible for flooding CES 2010 and every BlackBerry event since with an irritatingly cheery tune (which we're sure we don't have to name) is about to commence a long-term, "hands-on" collaboration with Intel on its development of "new technologies, music and tech advocacy." Basically, it sounds like he'll act as an ambassador for the chip company, who'll in turn pretend to listen to his zany ideas about mega-giga-bass. Then again, Lady Gaga's similar partnership with Polaroid produced these glasses, so what the hell do we know?

  • Screen Grabs: BlackBerry Eyed PlayBooks (video)

Screen Grabs chronicles the uses (and misuses) of real-world gadgets in today's movies and TV. Send in your sightings (with screen grab!) to screengrabs at engadget dot com. Whoulda thunk that the third time we'd see the BlackBerry PlayBook on video, it'd be in the hands of cube-headed dopplegangster Will.I.Shill? Not us, but we're terribly excited to see the 7-inch tablet show off its augmented reality chops in the Black Eyed Peas' latest music video. We're not really sure what alternate reality hijinks turned the musicians into 8-bit portraits nor pixelated their world, but the BEP sure look adorable as Xbox LIVE-friendly avatars. Watch it after the break, or skip to 2:12, 3:16 and 3:54 if you just want to get your tablet on. [Thanks, Jamesy]

It's hard out there for a hip-hop star. Will.i.am of the Black Eyed Peas recently had a not so good, good night. Thieves broke into his parked Bentley and made off with $10,000 worth of loot including jewelry, other personal property and the singer's shiny Apple iPad. However, law enforcement officials have honed in on the the perpetrator using the iPad's GPS functionality, and are close to making an arrest. The exact means they used for locating the iPad, however, is unknown -- i.e., whether it was an app or MobileMe's "Find My iPhone/iPad" feature. Whether for a special event performance or music partnership, Apple has collaborated with many musicians in a variety of ways. Back in 2004 the Black Eyed Peas, and their hit "Let's Get it Started," were prominently featured in the launch of the iMac G5. [via TMZ.com]

What do b-boys, random celebrities like Mark Sanchez, Andy Samberg and Hillary Duff, and the Black Eyed Peas have to do with 3DTV? We're not sure either, but that didn't stop Samsung from mixing them up during its "worldwide launch event" yesterday in NYC. Check the video (embedded after the break) for the above revelation about 3D from the JIMP troubador himself, but what was going through the heads of our friend Jimmy C and the BEP when this picture was taken? Chris: "And see, just by turning this knob to the right, we can give Avatar a plot." Richard Lawler: "If everyone starts wearing these, we're going to need new outfits." Nilay: "Fascinating. You say this is called a 'lady lump?'" Joe: "What? Bono beat us to it?" Joanna: "That Neytiri, she's a handful..." Paul: "I've gotta feeling that nothing of intellectual importance is happening here."

The tips just keep on coming in today, and I love it! Less work for me!We knew that Lumines II would feature some "pretty famous artists". Buena Vista Games just sent out a press releases and mentioned these songs and boy they are pretty famous: * Beck Black Tambourine * Black Eyed Peas Pump It * Chemical Brothers Star Guitar * Fatboy Slim Gangster Trippin * The Go! Team Bottle Rocket * Gwen Stefani Hollaback Girl * Hoobastank Born to Lead * Junior Senior Take My Time * Missy Elliott Lose Control * New Order TBDTwo additional songs will also appear on the games soundtrack: * Junkie XL Breezer * Stigmato Inc Reality CheckIf this list is indeed true, it appears that Lumines II will be hitting for a much more mainstream crowd. I'm still waiting for more Japanese music to pop up, but for now, I'll take whatever Lumines-related info I can get.[Thanks steve!]
