That barn burner of a flip, the VX8360 from LG we'd been mentioning for a while now, is finally on sale through Verizon online. Granted, it's not terribly interesting to look at, but VX8350 owners are probably crying themselves to sleep as they watch their beloved model ride off into the sunset in favor of a slightly newer, slightly different version. As a refresher, it's got EV-DO, a 1.3 megapixel cam with video capture, external music controls (which the microSD slot will be useful for employing), QVGA primary display, and a $50 sticker on contract after rebate.[Via phoneArena]

  • LG's VX8360 for Verizon in gory detail

So Verizon's still trying to clear out VX8350 inventory, but as soon as it does, we'll all start to see this little gem show up. The VX8360's been rumored for some time now -- heck, it was originally pegged for an October '08 launch -- but there's really no need to get too worked up about the delay, seeing how your $50 on contract after rebate is only going to land you a 1.3-megapixel camera and a positively forgettable design. EV-DO and VZ Navigator support are nice, but frankly, it's starting to get hard to find a Verizon phone that doesn't support nav, so call us when this is free on contract, guys!%Gallery-40678%

Last we'd heard, this bad boy is coming in just a couple weeks' time, so it's good to see some promotional materials floating around making mention of it, right? The VX8360 is said to feature a 1.3-megapixel camera, stereo Bluetooth, EV-DO, microSD expansion, and if we had to venture an educated guess, we'd say a color secondary display with external music controls. Nothing to write home about, granted -- but we'd be willing to bet Verizon is gonna part with these for a song.[Thanks, Thomas S.]

  • Verizon pushes Motorola ZN4 to October, Nokia 7205 to next year?

Jeebus, Nokia, what's going on with your stupid flip phone over there? Not to harsh on you too much -- we love you, really we do -- but we're not exactly talking about an N96-caliber device here. If an updated view of Verizon's Mobile Email launches is accurate, it seems that the launch of Nokia's CDMA-equipped 7205 will now come no earlier than January of 2009, which would put it a full year after the first spy shots leaked. We also see here that LG's VX5500 and VX8360 are both tracking for late October, while the mysterious VX9600 should be hitting in November if all goes well. From Motorola, the VU30 has been pushed out to the end of this month and the MING-esque ZN4 is looking like it's trying to break out in time for Halloween. Samsung is offering the u810 global phone later on this month, while the u650 "Sway" sneaks in somewhere in October. Altogether a promising autumn for Big Red's dumbphone line -- but we've seen enough date slips at this point to be fooled into believing there won't be a few more.[Thanks, anonymous tipster]

  • New Verizon rebate forms uncover fresh Motos, Samsungs, LGs

Krave? Knack? New phones listed on Verizon's latest rebate forms has us believing that we may be approaching the product marketing End Times where naming conventions reach a level of silliness never before fathomed. Take, for example, the ZN4 Krave from Motorola -- a phone previously known as the Blaze -- or the Sway and Knack from Samsung, the former being the u650 slider with a 2-megapixel camera. Why can't we just call that one "u650," Verizon? We'd be totally cool with that. Returning momentarily to the land of sanity, LG nabs the VX8360 and VX5500 on the lower end, a market segment where neither real nor made-up words bother finding their way onto the labels. Kind of refreshing, we think -- especially if the alternative is "Knack."

  • Verizon gets Motorola VU30 next month, Nokia 7205 not until December?

So we don't think Verizon really intended to leak any handset release dates via a slide about Mobile Email launches on various devices -- but alas, they did. At present, the Moto VU30 is scheduled for a September 9 date with destiny, and it seems that its name has changed from "Utopia" to "Rapture" somewhere along the way. Further out, the LG VX8360 (which we're guessing will be an update for the forgettable VX8350) gets real in October -- and unfortunately, that shiny, hot mess of CDMA technology from Nokia, the 7205, appears to be shelved all the way back to December. There's also a u440 "Cleo" from Samsung in there somewhere, too, though no launch window is listed. Anyway, sorry for the interruption, Verizon; please, continue fascinating us with your stories about mobile email.
